متن کاملImmunization of broiler chickens against Clostridium perfringens-induced necrotic enteritis.
Necrotic enteritis (NE) in broiler chickens is caused by Clostridium perfringens. Currently, no vaccine against NE is available and immunity to NE is not well characterized. Our previous studies showed that immunity to NE followed oral infection by virulent rather than avirulent C. perfringens strains and identified immunogenic secreted proteins apparently uniquely produced by virulent C. perfr...
متن کاملClostridium perfringens type C causing necrotising enteritis.
A rapidly fatal case of enteritis necroticans in a 24 year old man with diabetes was caused by Clostridium perfringens type C. The role of beta toxin in the disease is discussed. This type has not been previously described as a causative agent in necrotising bowel disease of man outside endemic areas.
متن کاملPlasmid Characterization and Chromosome Analysis of Two netF+ Clostridium perfringens Isolates Associated with Foal and Canine Necrotizing Enteritis
The recent discovery of a novel beta-pore-forming toxin, NetF, which is strongly associated with canine and foal necrotizing enteritis should improve our understanding of the role of type A Clostridium perfringens associated disease in these animals. The current study presents the complete genome sequence of two netF-positive strains, JFP55 and JFP838, which were recovered from cases of foal ne...
متن کاملFoudroyant Necrotizing Pancreatitis Caused by Clostridium Perfringens
Pancreatic infection caused by Clostridium perfringens is rare and follows a characteristic course. We present a foudroyant course of a necrotizing pancreatitis in a 77-year old man with typical imaging of retro-pneumoperitoneum without visceral perforation, peripancreatic emphysema due to gas gangrene in CT and hemorrhagic pancreatic necrosis.
